Notes.-

1.A rule of thumb for recognizing the gender of certain nouns: those ending in -o are masculine (e.g., el vaso: ¿the glass¿) and those ending in -a are feminine (e.g. la casa, ¿the house¿). There are several notable exceptions, such as el problema: the problem, la mano: the hand.

2.Agua (pronounced in two syllables) is not an exception to the rule in note 1. For phonetic reasons, feminine nouns beginning with a stressed a use the masculine article el.

3.Un and una are the masculine and feminine indefinite articles (¿a¿, ¿an¿), and become unos and unas in the plural (¿some¿, ¿a few¿)

4.Adjetives ending in -o in the masculine change to -a in the feminine: un vaso lleno: ¿a full glass¿, una taza llena: ¿a full cup¿.
